New South of Market Eatery Serves Wines on Tap, Beers & Shareable Plates


San Francisco, CA (June 3, 2011) — Following the recent closure of goodpizza, Haiyi Hotels today announced the opening of a new restaurant in its place, Sidebar Wine Tavern.In the heart of San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood, residing at 112 Seventh Street in the goodhotel, the restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with a focus on shareable plates and comfort food.


The Food


The new dinner menu includes everything from small bites to family-style plates that will change seasonally and feature locally sourced products and sustainable items.The restaurant will serve as everything from a pre-theater destination for a sit-down meal to a chic winebar for shareable bites and a glass of California wine.RJ Quiamboa, Food & Beverage Manager, said, “I hope SIDEBAR will be a place where people feel comfortable and at home.With the warm colors, the lantern ceiling and the offset living room, the casual ambiance of SIDEBAR is really unique.I think people will become believers once they try our Mac and Cheese, the two different kinds of chicken wings and the William Hill Cabernet Sauvignon.Maybe not altogether, of course.”


In a few weeks, SIDEBAR will open for lunch and will feature sandwiches, paninis, salads, soups and quick bites.Just as the name SIDEBAR was drawn from the adjacent courthouse at Seventh Street and Mission, several of the sandwiches follow a “law-theme” for lunch.Customers will find fun options including a sandwich combination dubbed “Slaw & Order” and a spicy, garlicky sandwich appropriately coined the “Contempt of Court” among several others.


At the end of the month, SIDEBAR will open for breakfast and will feature light, freshly baked goods, breakfast paninis, locally-grown fruit, organic yogurt and typical breakfast items such as waffles and pancakes.


Breakfast menu items range in price from $3 to $9, lunch menu items range in price from $4 to $15 and dinner menu items range in price from $7 to $18.


The Drinks


SIDEBAR exclusively serves Californian wines, eight of which will be kept on tap using an Enomatic Wine Delivery System.Draft beer selections are routed through a Frosted Ice Tower where a glycol-cooled chrome tower frosts over and delivers a perfectly cool pint with each pull.In addition, SIDEBAR is partnering with and serving as a local collection site for wine cork recycling in the South of Market area.It includes green and sustainable themes and will highlight programs such as composting, glass and paper recycling, water conservation and educational messages about and the importance of recycling natural cork materials.


The Space


Located in the heart of the South of Market neighborhood, with windows opening on to both Seventh Street and Mission, SIDEBAR’s comfortable design suits the neighborhood.With lanterns of varying size hanging throughout the space, deep woods and earth tones, the space is warm and welcoming by day, alluring and cozy by night.The restaurant has seating for 55 guests, including 10 seats at the communal table.
